Standing Up for our Community

Standing Up for our CommunityStanding Up for our CommunityStanding Up for our Community

Protecting Lakeside Golf Course from residential or commercial development.

Join our Cause

The heart of who we are

The Lakeside Greens Golf Course Preservation Society is dedicated to preserving our 18 hole community golf course - located in Chestermere, AB.

Lakeside Golf Club is at risk of development. Join us in opposing rezoning for residential or commercial redevelopment of this stunning course.

About Us

"The most common way people give up their

power is by thinking they don't have any."

                                                              -Alice Walker

Preventing Redevelopment

The Lakeside Greens Golf Course Preservation Society will engage with and foster open communication with the community, Chestermere City Council representatives and other stakeholders. Together, we will work to identify issues and express concerns about losing this valuable city landmark by:

  • Attending all public hearings, town hall meetings or open council meetings on the project

  • Campaigning and spreading awareness of our cause through a variety of communication channels

  • Gathering individual support to petition against rezoning the land

  • Sending a clear message to key decision makers that any future plans for redevelopment are strongly opposed in the community

Our Mission

To collectively and actively represent the opinions, input and grievances of Chestermere residents and golfers. Including but not limited to homeowners, members, businesses and the general public who are against the rezoning and redevelopment of the Lakeside Golf Club Course.

We are not, however, opposed to the sale of the course to a buyer interested in maintaining the land as a golf course.

Your Opinion Counts...

Hear what people are saying about the proposed future plans to develop the golf course.

GOOD NEWS AND ACTION ITEM

GREAT NEWS arrived with the release of the new City of Chestermere Municipal Development Plan Final Draft.

For the first time, a special designation for Golf Course Residential Policies 4.4.5 was included.

LGGC Preservation Society feels this is an added layer of protection in our fight against rezoning and development. We are thrilled that our Mayor and Council listened to the hundreds of emails and feedback from our supporters. Together we have (yet again) done something ground breaking that changes the future of Chestermere.
