Recreation is at the heart of community life. That’s why we’ve protected the Lakeside Greens Golf Course from redevelopment and ensured this land will stay in the hands of Chestermere.
We now have over 160 acres of recreation land creating opportunities year-round for families, seniors, and youth to gather, play, and thrive. From golf in the summer to outdoor winter activities, this land is for you and for generations to come.
This is about protecting what makes Chestermere special and building spaces that bring us together.
Vote to re-elect Shannon Dean 4 Mayor on October 20 so we can keep investing in recreation and keep Chestermere moving forward.
Much like our lake, Lakeside Greens is more than land. It’s a part of Chestermere's identity and vibrant character, and where our city shows what it means to live in a connected, healthy community. As a candidate, investing in multi-use and accessible recreational facilities are a priority for me, and Lakeside Greens is a huge part of that. That’s why I strongly support the Lakeside Greens Golf Course Preservation Society’s work to protect and preserve this space. It’s about legacy, but it’s also about the future. A preserved golf course isn’t just green space — it’s recreation, business, and multi-generational community benefit. At the same time, I believe we must ensure that this opportunity is managed responsibly. Preserving Lakeside Greens should not mean placing an unnecessary financial burden on local residents. With smart partnerships, efficient operations, and transparent management, we can protect this space while making sure it truly works for all of Chestermere. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to preserve, protect, and strengthen what makes our city special. I’m committed to doing exactly that.
I am running for Chestermere City Council with a clear commitment to protecting the unique assets that make our community special. Preserving the Lakeside Golf Course is non-negotiable for me. Just as our city is known for its beautiful lake, it is equally known for its golf course — both are defining parts of Chestermere’s identity, and neither should be sacrificed for poorly planned development.
My vision for Chestermere is about creating a complete, healthy city that grows as a family. That means protecting the assets that define us — our lake, our golf course, and our recreation lands — while also building the services and opportunities families need: schools, medical care, places of worship, and recreation.
I feel the purchase of the golf course and the recreation center was an important step for our community. These spaces, if managed well, can bring lasting value to Chestermere by keeping recreational opportunities local, strengthening our sense of community, and ensuring families have places to gather and enjoy.
At the same time, I believe we need to continue looking ahead. One of the most pressing needs I see is the development of a multi-use sports field—something that can support soccer, football, rugby, lacrosse, and other activities. A facility like this would serve all ages, encourage healthy and active living, and give our young people the chance to play, grow, and thrive right here at home.
For me, it’s about making thoughtful investments that meet the needs of today while also preparing Chestermere for the future.

We need more recreation opportunities in Chestermere, not less. Lakeside Greens attracts people from within and outside of Chestermere, people who play golf, and people who don’t. Lakeside is more than a golf course, it is part of Chestermere’s anatomy, just like our Lake is. Loosing the Golf Course would be like losing a limb. The Lakeside Greens Golf Course Preservation Society has my support, 100%. I do not support the re-zoning of the existing golf course land. We need this recreation asset for our community, there is plenty of other opportunities where we can sustainably build, Lakeside Greens is not one of them. Plain and simple, it is simply a bad idea to re-zone the golf course. I encourage everyone in our community to support the Preservation Society through their own campaign efforts.
Unanimous “NO to Re-Zoning” Golf Course Land.
